The patent protects the technical
characteristics of a product.
A patent is an industrial property that prohibits any third party unauthorized by the owner or legal claimant from exploiting the patented invention.
The patent does not guarantee to the holder the freedom to personally exploit the claimed concept because this concept may be protected by a previous and more general patent, or because the object whose manufacture is contemplated may possibly use another concept patented by a third party.
This title has a limited duration; the duration of protection in Morocco is 20 years.
In return for the granting of this monopoly, the invention must be disclosed to the public. In Morocco the patents are published and issued 18 months after the date of the national registration.
